AI Prompts for Marketing

Marketing is where AI prompts pay off fastest โ€” if you prompt for angles, not just words.

Most people use AI for marketing like a typing machine: "write an ad for my product." The output is bland because the input is bland. Good marketing prompts do something different: they force the AI to think in angles, audiences, and offers. Here's how to prompt for each marketing job.

Hooks: the first line is the whole game

Whether it's a video, an ad, or an email subject line, the first line decides whether anyone reads the second. Prompt for 10 hooks across different styles โ€” curiosity, contrarian, benefit, story โ€” then pick the strongest. Never accept the first hook the AI gives you; its best is usually in the second batch.

Ad angles: one product, five stories

A single product has many selling angles: the pain it removes, the status it confers, the time it saves, the proof behind it, the fear of missing out. Prompt for one ad per angle. The angle that wins tells you something real about your market โ€” that's research, not just copy.

Email: write for one person

The fastest way to ruin marketing email is writing to "everyone." Prompts that name one specific reader ("a bakery owner who just opened her second location") produce email that feels personal at scale. Always specify the reader, the single action you want, and the deadline.

SEO: structure first, words second

AI is excellent at SEO outlines and meta descriptions, and mediocre at writing full articles from nothing. Use it for the structure โ€” the H2s, the questions readers ask, the title options โ€” then write or heavily edit the body yourself. That's the workflow that ranks without sounding robotic.

Social: volume with a voice

Social content rewards consistency. A prompt that locks in your brand voice ("witty, direct, no jargon") and generates a week of captions at once beats daily one-off prompting. The key: give the AI 2-3 examples of your voice first. Without examples, it defaults to corporate mush.

The mistake to avoid

Publishing raw AI output. AI drafts are starting points. The marketers winning with AI right now use it for volume and angles, then add the one thing AI can't: a real opinion, a real story, a real offer. Edit for that, and the output stops sounding like everyone else's.

Steal the prompts. The Marketing section has ready-made prompts for hooks, ads, email, SEO, and social โ€” run them free in your browser.
