AI Prompts for Content Creators

Creators don't run out of talent — they run out of ideas and hours. Prompts fix both.

Consistency is the whole game for creators, and consistency is mostly a systems problem: ideas on demand, scripts without staring at a blank page, titles that get clicked, and one piece of content turned into five. Here's how to prompt for each.

1. Idea generation

Don't ask for "video ideas." Ask for 20 ideas about your specific niche, in your format, ranked by likely watch time — then ask for the top 5 expanded into one-line premises. The ranking step matters: it forces the AI to judge, not just list.

2. Scripts and outlines

Give the AI your hook, your 3 key points, and your call to action, and ask for a script in your voice: "direct, funny, no fluff." A script prompt that includes your actual voice examples beats a generic template every time. Read it aloud after — if you wouldn't say it, rewrite it.

3. Titles and hooks

Prompt for 10 titles across styles — curiosity, benefit, contrarian, story — then pick, don't publish the first one. The same applies to the first line of any post: the hook is a separate prompt from the body, and it deserves its own iteration.

4. Captions and descriptions

Captions should do one job: get the next action (watch, comment, click). Prompt with the platform, the audience, and the action — and cap the length. "Write a 2-sentence Instagram caption that gets saves" beats "write a caption" by a mile.

5. Repurposing

One long video or article becomes a week of content: a short script, 3 captions, a thread, an email, and 5 title options. A repurposing prompt that takes one source and outputs all five formats is the highest-leverage prompt most creators never write.

The voice problem

AI content sounds generic when the prompt is generic. Feed it 2-3 examples of your own work and name your voice ("dry humor, short sentences, no motivational-speaker energy"). The more specific the voice, the less the output sounds like everyone else's.
